1: Avoid Caffeinated Beverages

This may be easier said than done, but according to studies the caffeine and sugar in them may increase your level of anxiety. Also, a lack of sleep can do this as well. Avoiding caffeine may help you sleep better and would in return help you deal with anxiety.

2: Meditate on your breathing

Most of the time when people start feeling an anxiety attack brewing, they will start breathing unnaturally. They start getting worried and begin to panic. This is one of the worst things you can do. Instead, you should meditate on your breathing pattern. Perhaps even count and force yourself to take deep breaths.

3: Build your self-esteem up

According to studies, low self-esteem often is something that comes along with anxiety attacks. If this is you, you really should start focusing on building your self-esteem. Do you think you are overweight or ugly? Start going to the gym and you may begin to feel more comfortable in your own skin. Do you think of yourself as stupid or unable to learn? You should consider going to college or a trade school where you might learn a new trade. All of this might help you in building your self-esteem.

4: Vent your problems

If you have no one to go to in your family, or even if you do but do not want to talk to them about your problems, you should vent your problems to someone. This could be a therapist, a spouse, or a friend. This is a healthy way of getting rid of anxiety. You will find that even writing down your problems, leaving for a few hours, and then coming back and reading what you have wrote down. You can start learning a lot of about yourself and your process of thinking.

5: Exercise

Even though this is mentioned above about self-esteem, it should be done regardless of your self-esteem to help with anxiety. There are logical reasons behind it. If you exercise you are increasing your heart rate which also pumps blood quicker throughout the body. The end result is that your blood pressure is lowered and this is essential in controlling your anxiety.

6: Accept that this will not happen overnight

It does not matter how much you would like for it to go away, the chances are that if you are reading this for the first time and suffer from anxiety attacks is that you will have another before it stops. The idea here is to get you on the right track to being able to deal with anxiety. At some point, you will find that you will be able to cope with anxiety attacks or stop them all together before they start.
